The Divine Universal Miracle of the Qur’an

This section highlights the Qur’an as a divinely protected scripture, unlike previous books which underwent distortion. It is described as a “fruit of everlasting freshness”—a miracle of language, meaning, and musicology that transcends time and geography. The text also warns against the “nefarious aims” of anti-Islamic agents who use sacred terminology to mislead the faithful, emphasizing the need for authentic sources in Uloom al Qur’an.

Dimensions of Meaning: Tanzil Mystery of Tawil

This heading focuses on the layered depths of the sacred text. It distinguishes between the Zahir (apparent meaning) known as Tanzil, and the Batin (inner meaning) known as Tawil. Using the analogy of Sayedna Abu Hatim al Razi, it explains that while Tafsir is the literal explanation of words, Tawil is the profound interpretation of their underlying significance and divine reality (Haqaiq).

Qur’an al-Natiq: The Living Imam

his section discusses the concept of the Qur’an al-Natiq (the Speaking Qur’an), embodied by the Imam of the Time. It details the historical attempts to extinguish this “Noor” through the tragedy of Karbala. The martyrdom of Imam al-Husain (as) is presented as the ultimate sacrifice that secured the continuation of both the literal and esoteric meanings of the Qur’an, allowing believers to transition toward the spiritual realm of Aalam al-Quds.

Uloom al-Qur’an or Quran Studies is an extensive topic which covers writings and discussions related to the Qur’an in depth. You can find information on this website about the sacred scripture of Islam and Muslims. The Qur’an al-Natiq is divinely protected till the Qiyamah, while the scriptures of Ibrahim (as), the Torah of Musa (as), the Zabur of Dawood (as) and the Bible of Essa (as) have become distorted over time. Anti-Islamic agents have created numerous websites to mislead people regarding the Qur’an. Such anti-Islamic agents tend to use words like the Holy Quran, Qur’an, Koran, Islam, Muhammad, Rasulullah (S), Rasul Allah, Scripture, Wahy, Tanzil, Tafsir, Tawil, Haqaiq, Ayah, Surah in their discussion by implying a pro-Islamic sentiment. Therefore, readers must be cautioned about the authenticity of sources along with the nefarious aims of elements harmful to Islam. Qur’an is not confined to any region, nation or any particular era. Qur’an is a miracle on account of its language and inherent meaning that liberates the scope of its Ta‘lim over a time infinite. It is the only divine book which opens multifarious vistas of learning. It is also a phenomenon from the point of view of its recitation. It bears resemblance to the fruit of everlasting freshness that one may continue to eat but the desire to eat would never abate.

Qur’an is such a Fayd that its Tawil is also a miracle along with its Zahir meaning. Rabb Subhanahu bestowed such a peerless miracle to His beloved Rasul (S) that the human intellect is unable to comprehend it. The Zahir of the Qur’an is Tanzil, the exposition of which is called Tafsir. The esoteric and inner meaning of the Qur’an is Tawil. Shi’i Fatimi Ismailis believe that the Qur’an had apparent meanings followed by Batin, and then Haqaiq or the divine realities. One of the celebrated Shi’i Fatimi Ismaili Du’at and paramount intellectuals of Central Asia, Sayyiduna Abu Hatim al-Razi (ra), explained the difference between Tawil and Tafsir as follows: “A person who sees a dream and hears words, and upon waking up tries to explain, that is called the Tafsir of the dream. And the wise and learned who interpret the significance of that dream is the Tawil.”

The enemies of the Qur’an tried to completely eliminate the Shariah and attempted unsuccessfully to extinguish the Noor of the Qur’an al-Natiq, Imam al-Zaman (as), the embodiment of Quran’s teachings, and the only true and sole interpreter of its Tanzil. The enemies tore the Qura’n al-Natiq and raised the head of Moula Abi Abdillah Al Imam al-Husayn ibn Ali (as) on a spear at Karbala al-Muqaddasah, but the enemies still found the sacred head of Moula al-Husain busy in the recitation of Qur’an. Al Imam alHusain’s (as) Shahadat secured the continuation of Tanzil and Tawil, and his Shahadaht Uzma guaranteed that Mumineen will transition from this physical world towards Aalam al-Quds.
